Week Sixty Five

Week Sixty Five

Sunday, February 19, 2012…..I woke this morning feeling much better; well enough in fact to jump on my bike for and embark on an ALC training ride.  The route took us to new – for me – territory.  Instead of first going through the lowlands of Sausalito, we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and headed uphill to the Marin Headlands.  The hill is quite steep and long-ish in distance.  The climb is worth every inch.  From the top we could take in not only the Pacific Ocean but almost the entire San Francisco Bay.  It’s a spectacular view.  Today’s weather afforded us an unimpeded bird’s eye peek at what laid before us.  Cycling to the top with the group was emotionally fulfilling as well.  Having comrades with whom to share the joy of accomplishment is something I cherish.

Halfway through the ride my stomach bug returned to haunt me.  I cut my ride short and returned to San Francisco via the ferry.  I was glad to get home and rest.  I spent the remainder of the day napping and drinking lots of water.

Monday the 20th…..President’s Day.  I’m still under the weather.  Feeling bloated and nauseous; an awful sensation.  I want it to go away!

Tuesday the 21st……I’m at home again today calling in sick.  Still feeling a bit punk.  I want to make sure I recover fully from whatever this is.

This afternoon I finally began to feel much better.  I was enticed by the nice weather to venture outside for a walk through the neighborhood.  It really lifted my spirits to be outside and among people.  I think I’ve been a bit depressed the past few days.  Being sick on top of all the drama around moving and having not found a place have weighed on my mind.  It’s made me immobilized with little or no motivation.  The walk outside was just what I needed.  I’ll return to work tomorrow.

Wednesday the 22nd…..I returned to work feeling very good today.  The weather has warmed quite a bit and riding is suddenly becoming very different.

Thursday the 23rd…..Yep riding is much different with the warm weather.  Shorts; short sleeve jerseys, short finger gloves.  I feel almost naked.  Warm sun caresses my arms.  It feels so good.

Saturday the 25th….This evening will be a fundraiser for Team Randy.  T.J. and I are hosting a wine tasting at the home of two local wine maker/producers.  Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to ALC and Team Randy.

That’s all for now.  More later.

Love,

Lee
